Ukraine begins procedure for joining Council of Europe Development Bank – minister Chernyshov

KYIV. Oct 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine is starting the procedure for joining the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB), the press service of the Ministry for Territories and Communities Development reports, citing Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov.

The draft of the relevant law of Ukraine has already been developed.

"Today, we are going to officially send the bill to the ministries and start the procedure of official government approval in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine," Chernyshov said during talks with CEB Governor Carlo Monticelli.

In turn, the governor of the Bank said that he would do everything to make the accession process transparent and simple for Ukraine.

The Ukrainian minister briefed the CEB Governor on the procedure for making domestic decisions in the context of the bill, as well as the results of the Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (RDNA) report.

"We strive not only to restore the destroyed or damaged territories, but we will make every effort to completely turn Ukraine into a successful European state," the minister said.

The parties also discussed the possibility and prospects for cooperation in the implementation of programs to address the housing issue for internally displaced persons, including cooperation with the State Fund for the Promotion of Youth Housing Construction.
