Ukraine asks the United States to provide telecom operators with interest-free loans for purchase of U.S. telecom equipment – MP

KYIV. Sept 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine has proposed that the United States provides Ukrainian telecom operators with preferential loans for the purchase of U.S.-made telecom equipment.

The relevant information was published on the Telegram channel of MP (European Solidarity parliamentary faction) Oleksiy Honcharenko, who gave a list of possible Ukrainian-U.S. projects presented by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his working visit to the United States.

A government source confirmed to Interfax-Ukraine that the list had been prepared on the eve of the visit. At the same time, according to the source, some changes could have been made to it directly in the United States.

According to the published data, Ukraine has proposed that the United States provides concessional loans at 0% to the Ukrainian state bank for sub-crediting the purchase of U.S.-made telecom equipment by Ukrainian mobile network operators.

The size of the loan can be up to $1.5 billion. The project is planned to be implemented until 2026.

In addition, Ukraine proposed that the United States finances the construction of towers for base stations of mobile communications along the railway tracks, providing a loan for this purpose in the amount of $163 million.
