UK blocks speech of Russian children's Ombudsman on UN TV channel – rep office
KYIV. April 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The broadcast of the speech of the Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Russian Federation Maria Lvova-Belova at an informal meeting at the UN on the issue of the deportation of Ukrainian children to the Russian Federation is blocked by the British side, according to the Twitter account of the British mission to the UN.
“Tomorrow, Russia will hold an informal UN meeting on ‘evacuating’ Ukrainian children from Ukraine to Russia. Russia has invited Maria Lvova-Belova to brief. The ICC issued an arrest warrant for her last month. The UK Ambassador will not be participating,” the message posted on Wednesday night reads.
The representative office suggested that Maria Lvova-Belova “is allegedly responsible for the war crimes of unlawful deportation and unlawful transfer of Ukrainian children.”
“We blocked the meeting from being broadcast on UNTV. She should not be afforded a UN platform to spread disinformation. If Maria Lvova-Belova wants to give an account of her actions, she can do so in the Hague,” the message reads.
