UIA increases passenger traffic by 35% in Jan-Sept
KYIV. Oct 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In January-September 2021, Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) carried 2.258 million passengers, which is 35% more than in the same period in 2020 and 64% less than in the same period in 2019.
The press service of UIA reported on Wednesday that in particular, 856,834 passengers were transported on regular flights, 1.4 million passengers on charter flights.
In January-September 2021, the airline operated 8,259 scheduled flights, which is 8% less than in 2020 and 80% less than in 2019. At the same time, 7,853 charter flights were performed, which is 2.7 times more than in 2020 (2,964) and 74% more than in 2019 (4,503).
The volume of cargo and mail transported by UIA (both on regular and charter flights) for the specified period was 3,180 tonnes, which is 51% less than in 2020 and 81% less than in 2019.
The volume of funds returned to passengers reached more than $25 million since the beginning of 2021, for the entire period of work during the pandemic since April 2020 it was more than $52 million
"The airline continues closely monitoring the development of the epidemiological situation and border crossing rules in each country where it operates. In addition, UIA reminds of its readiness to further resume flights, taking into account positive epidemiological factors and subject to obtaining permits for flights," the airline said.
As reported, UIA carried 1.787 million passengers in 2020, which is 75% less than the result for 2019 (about 8 million passengers).
