U.S., Poland, Canada are Ukraine's key strategic partners – Ukrainian Prism poll
KYIV. Aug 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – About 54% of Ukrainian foreign policy experts consider the United States a key strategic partner of Ukraine, another 26% consider Poland as such, and 14% – Canada, according to the results of an expert survey conducted by the Ukrainian Prism Foreign Policy Council from August 16 to August 20, 2021, during which 100 international experts were interviewed.
In addition to these countries, some experts also consider Lithuania (12% of respondents) and Great Britain (6%) to be key strategic partners of Ukraine.
At the same time, experts consider European integration as one of the most constant vectors of movement in Ukraine’s foreign policy – 73% of respondents voted for it, international security issues – 50%, Euro-Atlantic integration – 41%, economic diplomacy – 30% and public diplomacy – 24% (respondents could have chosen multiple answers).
The fifth president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is considered the most effective president of Ukraine in matters of foreign policy of the country – this is what 75% of respondents – international experts – called him, the second president of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma, was in the second place (he was supported by 14% of respondents).
The first President Leonid Kravchuk is considered the most successful in the international arena by 5% of experts, the sixth President Volodymyr Zelensky – 4%. About 2% of the respondents consider the third president of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, the most effective in matters of foreign policy.
Experts say that the main victories of Ukraine in the international arena over 30 years of independence are the conclusion of an Association Agreement with the European Union (45%), obtaining a visa-free regime (24%), obtaining and maintaining independence, sovereignty and international subjectivity (13%), forming an international coalition on issues of combating Russian aggression (11%), as well as the European integration of Ukraine (4%).
