WASHINGTON. Jan 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Biden Administration will work with Congress to program an additional $125 million in funding to support Ukraine’s energy and electricity grid, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said.

According to a report of the U.S. Department of State, this additional $125 million funding will be used to acquire essential industrial equipment to maintain water supply and heating systems in and around Kyiv.

The State Department said that "it is on top of already significant funds and other support to Ukraine to maintain it energy and electrical grid in all parts of the country against Russia’s illegal and brutal war."

As reported, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) decided to provide $125 million to support Ukraine in the energy sector.

"USAID will utilize the $125 million to procure vital equipment including additional gas turbines, high voltage autotransformers, distribution substation repair equipment, and backup power for Kyiv’s water supply and district heating services," USAID said in a statement on its website.

USAID has already delivered 1,548 generators to Ukraine.
