Two Russian servicemen who fired Grad at Kozacha Lopan to appear before court – prosecutor's office

KHARKIV. May 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The pre-trial investigation into two Russian servicemen who fired Grad shells at the settlement of Kozacha Lopan (Kharkiv region) has been completed and the indictment has been sent to court.

"Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office approved and sent to court an indictment against two Russian servicemen for violating the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Currently, the regional prosecutor’s office is taking all measures to identify all servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces guilty of committing war crimes in order to bring them to the statutory responsibility," the press service of Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office reported.

As reported, on February 24, two Russian soldiers, one of whom was a loading driver and the other a gunner of a BM-21 multiple rocket launcher, fired artillery hitting Kharkiv region from the territory of the Belgorod in Russia. Fulfilling a criminal order, the Russian soldiers destroyed critical infrastructure facilities and residential buildings in the village of Kozacha Lopan. After that, the soldiers crossed the border of Ukraine and continued shelling Kharkiv region. After the defeat of the Russian military column, two invaders were taken prisoner by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the territory of Kharkiv region.
