Turkey seeks to organize talks between Ukrainian, Russian leaders to achieve peace – FM
KYIV. Sept 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Turkish President Recep Erdogan will continue contacts with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to organize their talks to achieve peace, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said, Daily Sabah reports.
"Leaders who want the war to continue also need to be persuaded. As Türkiye, we have not lost our hope, we will continue our efforts. Our president [Recep Tayyip Erdoğan] will continue his contacts with Putin and Zelensky. Our aim is to bring the two leaders together to ensure that decisions are made at the level of the leaders. The whole world pays the price of war," Çavuşoğlu said at a press conference in Tokyo, Daily Sabah reported.
He stressed the need for the parties to return to the negotiating table.
"War has no winner. To end this war, it is more likely to return to the negotiating table once both sides realize this. There must be a just peace, especially for Ukraine. The occupied territories are the territory of Ukraine," the minister said.
