Thirteen cheeses from Ukraine win at World Cheese Awards
KYIV. Nov 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – For the first time, Ukraine took part in the World Cheese Awards 2022, the largest cheese competition in Europe. A total of 39 cheeses from Ukraine took part in the UK-based event, 13 of which won various awards.
As reported on the website of the Infagro industry analytical agency, a total of 4,434 cheeses from 42 countries of the world took part in the event. They were evaluated by 250 professional international judges.
"I am incredibly glad that we managed to do what we have been dreaming about for so long – to put Ukraine on the cheese map of the world. For the first time in the entire cheese history of our country, the world learned about Ukrainian cheeses and tasted them. The result – 13 winners from different regions received honorary awards," the agency quotes Oksana Chernova, a judge from Ukraine at the World Cheese Awards.
According to the organization, Ukraine has seven Bronze awards, four Silver awards, and one Gold and one Super Gold. Among the winners are producers from Lviv, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Volyn, Sumy, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk regions.
