Third of Supreme Court's judges against return of PrivatBank case on $350 mln payment to Surkis companies to Cassation Court

KYIV. Sept 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Six out of 18 members of the Grand Chamber within the Supreme Court of Ukraine, who participated in the court session on September 14, disagree with the ruling to return to the Cassation Civil Court the case on appealing against the court ruling of 2017 concerning the obligations of PrivatBank (Kyiv) to service the deposits of the Surkis brothers’ companies in the accounts of its Cypriot branch (before the bank’s nationalization), which estimate their liabilities at $347.4 million, the PrivatBank press service said on Friday.

"Six out of 18 members of the Grand Chamber within the Supreme Court, who participated in the court session on September 14, do not agree with the return of the case to the Cassation Civil Court and believe the cassation complaints of PrivatBank and the Cabinet of Ministers in this case should be considered by the Grand Chamber, as expressed by individual opinions," the bank said in a statement.

The PrivatBank press service told Interfax-Ukraine, the relevant opinion is shared by the following judges of the Supreme Court: Viktor Prorok, Dmytro Hudyma, Larysa Rohach, Leonid Loboiko, Kostiantyn Pilkov and Ihor Tkach.
