Telling partners truth, Ukraine gains respect – Kuleba
KYIV. Sept 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The change in the foreign policy rhetoric of the Ukrainian authorities to a tougher one is due to the fact that Ukraine is not afraid to tell its partners the truth, gaining respect, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, citing Head of the ministry Dmytro Kuleba.
"We have great respect and gratitude to our partners. But, firstly, we must not constantly follow partners, but lead partners. Secondly, do not be afraid to tell partners the truth, as this is how our country gains respect for itself," the ministry’s press service said, citing Kuleba on the air of Freedom of Speech (Svoboda Slova) on ICTV.
The minister said that agreements with partners can be difficult when the Ukrainian side defends its positions.
"The partners were very annoyed by what happened before 2019 under the previous government, and now they are talking about it frankly. They were promised something, agreed with them, and then did the opposite. Now if we agree on something, we fulfill our obligations."
