Swedish Defense Minister speaks in favor of sending Swedish troops to Ukraine as part of EU-led training mission – media
(Clarified)
KYIV. Nov 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Swedish Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist has announced his country’s readiness to send Swedish troops to Ukraine as part of an EU-led training mission, Sveriges Radio has reported.
According to the Swedish radio, the minister supports the proposal of the Baltic states to conduct an EU-led training mission in Ukraine.
It is noted that this may mean that some Swedish soldiers are sent to the country to train Ukrainian troops against the backdrop of a large amass of Russian troops on the eastern border of Ukraine.
"Of course, we have to be open to this," Hultqvist said on the radio program.
