Support for creation of Special Tribunal a signal that aggressor won't go unpunished – Prosecutor General
KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Support for the creation of a Special Tribunal to deal with the crimes of aggression is a signal that the Russian military and political leaders will not escape punishment for the crimes of aggression, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin has said.
The press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) said on the Telegram channel on Tuesday that, during a meeting with Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Kuninori Matsuda, Kostin expressed his sincere gratitude to the government and people of Japan for their solidarity with Ukraine.
"The Prosecutor General informed that, during a meeting of the G7 Justice Ministers, he discussed the directions of future cooperation with State Minister of Justice of Japan Kadoyama Hiroaki. Both sides expressed their readiness to continue cooperation on investigation into international crimes, strengthening of the system of sanctions and search for institutional mechanisms to freeze and seize assets of Russian citizens and banks for their participation or assistance to the war in Ukraine," the PGO said.
The ambassador, in turn, said that he highly appreciates Ukraine’s trust to Japan and assured that his country will continue to take efforts to help Ukraine.
"Support for the creation of a Special Tribunal for the aggressor is an important step to restore global order. It is a signal that the aggressor’s actions will not go unpunished," Kostin said.
