Studio Kvartal 95 signs contract to show Gulliver Returns cartoon in China
KYIV. Sept 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Studio Kvartal 95 has signed a contract to show the Gulliver Returns cartoon on 12,000 screens in China, according to a posting on the film’s Facebook page.
The Chinese Embassy in Ukraine said that Ambassador Fan Xianrong, First Assistant to the President of Ukraine and General Producer of the Kvartal 95 studio Serhiy Shefir, member of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting Tetiana Rudenko attended the signing ceremony in Kyiv held recently.
According to Shefir, quoted by the Chinese Embassy, Ukraine hopes for further results of cooperation with China in the production and distribution of films and television programs.
Both sides said that China is the world’s largest market for the film industry, therefore, strengthening cooperation between China and Ukraine in promoting film production has very broad prospects, according to the release from the Chinese embassy.
According to the press release, the film is the first Ukrainian cartoon to be shown to viewers in China, and will be released in more than 8,000 cinemas in 2022 during the Chinese New Year holidays.
The embassy recalled that one of the founders of Studio Kvartal 95 is President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
The budget for Gulliver Returns produced by Gulliver Films and 95 Animation Studio is about $10 million. The total duration is 90 minutes. All Rights Entertainment with offices in Hong Kong, Paris and Los Angeles, which has committed itself to signing distribution contracts, acts as the distribution agent.
Distribution contracts have been signed with more than 60 countries. Gulliver Returns was first shown in Ukraine on August 19 this year. According to kino-teatr.ua, the box office in Ukraine has now exceeded UAH 13.3 million.
