Strengthening U.S.-Ukrainian military cooperation increases security of entire Eastern Europe – Budanov

KYIV. Nov 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – U.S.-Ukrainian military cooperation is important for the security of the entire Eastern European region, head of the Defense Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov said, following a working visit to the U.S.

"The level of military-technical cooperation that Ukraine and the U.S. demonstrate, strengthens the security of the Eastern European space and is no less important than other fronts of free democratic societies confronting the latest hybrid challenges, including from the ruling regime of Russia," the press service of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense quotes the words of Budanov on the Facebook page.

According to Budanov, today U.S.-Ukrainian cooperation in the security and defense sector, including military intelligence, has reached a qualitatively new level, and there is a bilateral awareness of the unprecedented challenges that Ukraine and the entire democratic community of the world are experiencing.

The head of the Defense Intelligence Directorate also noted that the leadership of the Ukrainian state and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine highly appreciate the fundamental contribution of the U.S. to curbing hybrid aggression from the Russian Federation, as well as active participation in the reform of the Ukrainian security and defense sector.

"Without an independent and stable Ukrainian state, there will be no reliable security environment, not only in the Eastern European space, but throughout Europe. Therefore, the strengthening of U.S.-Ukrainian military cooperation strengthens the security of the entire Eastern Europe. Putin plays on the contradictions between countries, and this can only be resisted by interaction," Budanov said.
