Stoltenberg: Massive missile attacks on Ukrainian cities a sign of Putin's weakness

BRUSSELS. Oct 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said that massive missile attacks on Ukrainian cities by the Russian occupation forces show the weakness of Putin and his army, which is unable to withstand the counteroffensive operation of the Ukrainian defense forces and is losing on the battlefield.

He said this at a press conference ahead of the meetings of NATO Defense Ministers due in Brussels on October 12-13.

What we saw yesterday is a sign of weakness, Stoltenberg said, adding that the Russian army is unable to achieve success on the battlefield, Russia is losing the war because it is unable to stop the Ukrainian army’s counteroffensive.

Stoltenberg said that the indiscriminate strikes against Ukrainian cities show that Putin has no alternative as the Russian army has lost the moment in the war against Ukraine, and that is why Russia mounts such missile attacks as it did yesterday and today.

The Secretary General also noted that Crimea was illegally annexed by Russia and belongs to Ukraine. The Allies will never recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea, he said, adding that it was Putin who started this war.
