Stefanishyna declares importance of expanding teams of EU integrators in govt agencies
KYIV. Sept 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna declares the importance of significantly expanding teams of EU integrators in public bodies.
"It is important for us to significantly expand the teams of European integrators of public bodies. Every civil servant should set European integration as the goal of his or her activity," Stefanishyna said at the Annual Richelieu Public Service Forum on Thursday.
According to her, the authorities need to work to improve the skills of civil servants.
In the context of Ukraine’s European integration, the Deputy Prime Minister drew attention to the image of a civil servant in an EU member state.
"He or she is fluent in English, has a good understanding of pan-European processes and trends, their expertise is not limited to national borders. It is very important to move away from implementation just to check the box or copy-paste… It is necessary to develop a deep understanding of the spirit and meaning of the European Union, the meanings behind a regulation, directive or bill," Stefanishyna said.
