Stefanchuk honors memory of Holodomor victims, UPR soldiers in Warsaw

KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk began his working visit to the Republic of Poland in memory of the victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine in 1932-1933 and soldiers of the Army of the Ukrainian People’s Republic (UPR), who rest at the Wolsko Orthodox Cemetery in Warsaw.

"The memory of the UPR warriors is the memory of the Ukrainian contribution to a free Europe. So being here is both a duty and an honor for us. Today, when Ukraine is making its way to Europe, it is worth recalling that it was the UPR Army soldiers almost 100 years ago who helped Poland withstand the Bolshevik invasion and protected Europe from the impending threat from Moscow," Stefanchuk wrote on his Facebook page.

The Speaker of the Parliament also recalled the duty "to spread this memory among the younger generations, not forgetting that Ukraine and Poland are a very great force together."

As reported, Stefanchuk arrived in Poland on a working visit. He will take part in the XI session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Verkhovna Rada, the Seimas of Lithuania and the Sejm and the Senate of Poland.
