Stefanchuk advocates creation of research service for preparation of essential bills

KYIV. Oct 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk considers one of the important steps in the modernization of the structure of the Ukrainian parliament to create a research service at the parliament, which should, in particular, deal with the qualitative preparation of the most complex and essential bills for the state.

According to the Verkhovna Rada administration’s press service, the chairman of the Ukrainian parliament said this at an online meeting with former President of the European Parliament Pat Cox.

According to Stefanchuk, the law on parliamentary service will become important in future activities. This document should provide, in particular, the full depoliticization of the parliament and its apparatus, as well as the creation of a unified code of parliamentary ethics and the modernization of the Rules of Procedure.

"It is time to comprehensively revise the issue of the Rules of Procedure, which would make it possible to ensure the rights of the opposition, coalition and the life of the parliamentary agency as a whole," he said.

Cox, in turn, said the modernization of the Verkhovna Rada and its Rules of Procedure is a priority, and the European colleagues are open to effective cooperation.
