Spanish PM Sanchez arrives in Kyiv

KYIV. Feb 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has arrived in Kyiv.

According to Suspilne, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis met the Prime Minister.

Sanchez himself also announced his arrival in the Ukrainian capital.

“I am returning to Kyiv a year after the start of the war,” he wrote on Twitter.

Sanchez noted that Spain will “support Ukraine and its people until peace returns to Europe.”

As the Spanish publication OK diario said earlier, this will be Sanchez’ second trip to Ukraine. He was already in the country in April last year. In Kyiv, Sanchez is expected to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. “It is not yet known whether during the stay in Ukraine he will make some statement about the bilateral support of Zelenskyy by Spain, as he did a few months ago and as they did during each of his visits by other international leaders who met with Zelenskyy at the headquarters of the Ukrainian president,” OK diario noted.

As reported, Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles confirmed that at least six German-made Leopard tanks will be sent to Ukraine from Spain in early April this year.
