KYIV. Nov 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine has started the heating season despite constant shelling, the integrated communications department of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy said on Monday, following the results of the 11th meeting of the headquarters for preparations for the autumn-winter period led by Naftogaz chairman of the board Oleksiy Chernyshov.
"99.7% of boiler houses have been launched, 99.6% of residential buildings, 97.9% of kindergartens, 98.9% of schools and 99.9% of healthcare institutions have been provided with heating … At the same time, the main task today is to ensure the constant operation of these facilities, as well as quickly restore the damaged ones," the company said.
In addition, according to Naftogaz, 316 heating facilities, or 53.3% of the total number of affected facilities, have been restored to date. Particular efforts are now being directed at establishing the work of heat generating enterprises in the liberated territories of Kharkiv and Kherson regions.
Chernyshov urged everyone to be ready and respond quickly to any emergency situations.
"The terrorist state has once again demonstrated its essence to the world. Also, thanks to all the energy workers who tirelessly repair our infrastructure so that Ukrainians have light and warmth," he said.
