Some 51 vessels with cargo, crew members blocked in ports of Ukraine, more than half in ports of Mykolaiv region
KYIV. March 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Since the beginning of full-scale Russian aggression, more than fifty ships with crew members and various cargoes have remained blocked in Ukraine, more than half of them in the ports of Mykolaiv region, the press service of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) told Interfax-Ukraine.
According to it, as of March 14, some 51 ships with approximately 670,000 tonnes of various cargoes, including grain, were blocked in the country’s ports. There are about 230 crew members on the ships.
At the same time, 30 ships were blocked in the ports of Mykolaiv region, of which eight were carrying more than 165,000 tonnes of agricultural products.
“The Ukrainian side has repeatedly stressed the need to expand the Black Sea Grain Initiative in order to include the ports of Mykolaiv region. This will significantly increase the volume of Ukrainian food exports to needy countries of the world,” the USPA said.
