Some 361 children killed, 714 injured amid Russian aggression in Ukraine – PGO
KYIV. Aug 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – As of August 18, 2022, the official number of children killed as a result of the aggression of the Russian Federation has not changed during the day: their number is 361, the number of wounded has increased – more than 714, the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.
"More than 1,075 children were injured in Ukraine as a result of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation. As of the morning of August 18, 2022, the official number of child victims per day has not changed – 361. The number of wounded has increased – more than 714," the report says.
These figures are not final, as work is underway to establish them in the places of active hostilities, in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.
The most children were affected in Donetsk region: 376, Kharkiv – 200, Kyiv – 116, Chernihiv – 68, Luhansk – 61, Mykolaiv – 60, Kherson – 55, and Zaporizhia – 40.
On August 17, a 12-year-old girl was injured as a result of an enemy shell hitting a residential building in Kharkiv.
On August 17, the occupiers shelled the residential infrastructure of Krasnohrad, Kharkiv region. A 12-year-old girl was injured.
Due to the bombing and shelling by the armed forces of the Russian Federation, 2,328 educational institutions were damaged. Of these, 289 were completely destroyed.
