Some 300 Ukrainian citizens illegally detained on ORDLO territory – Denisova

KYIV. Nov 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – As of the end of November 2021, 300 Ukrainian citizens are being illegally detained in prisons in the Russian-occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Liudmyla Denisova, Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada, has reported.

"Illegal armed groups controlled by the Russian Federation are holding 300 Ukrainian citizens in ORDLO prisons: 223 in Donetsk and 77 in Luhansk region," Denisova wrote on Facebook following the forum dubbed "Overcoming the conflict in Donbas as a task of generations: promoting justice, dialogue, reconciliation."

She added that in Ukraine for eight years since the beginning of the armed aggression on the part of the Russian Federation, the status of persons who have suffered from the military conflict has not been legally defined. The determination of the status of a conflict-affected person has been partially resolved only in relation to children injured as a result of hostilities and persons with disabilities as a result of the war, who were injured in the territory of the ATO (Anti-Terrorist Operation)/JFO (Joint Forces Operation).

As reported, as of September 25, 2020, some 235 Ukrainian citizens were illegally detained on the territory of ORDLO.
