Some 12% of jobless people in Kyiv are IDPs – employment center

KYIV. Aug 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Every eighth unemployed person () registered in the Ukrainian capital is an internally displaced person (IDP), according to Kyiv City Employment Center.

"As of August 11, 2022, some 1,761 unemployed people with the status of internally displaced persons were registered by the capital’s employment service. In total, they accounted for 12% of the total number of unemployed," it said.

Kyiv is among the top three regions with the largest number of IDPs who have received the employment center’s services in 2022.

Since the beginning of 2022, some 3,500 IDPs have received the status of unemployed at the city employment center.

"Some 449 IDPs found jobs with the assistance of the capital’s employment service. A quarter of all employed are in wholesale and retail trade, the services sector for the repair of vehicles and motorcycles. The second place in terms of the number of employed IDPs is the processing industry. Among the leaders in employment are also the healthcare and social assistance, activities in the sphere of administrative and support services, professional, scientific and technical activities, public administration and defense, compulsory social insurance, education," the center said.

According to it, as of August 12, some 246 employers in the capital received funds under the program for compensation of labor costs for the employment of 657 IDPs under martial law in Ukraine.
