SOCAR boosts gasoline production 2% in 2022, diesel output falls 15.5%
BAKU. Jan 19 (Interfax) – Azerbaijani production of oil products declined 4.2% in monetary terms in 2022 to 4.136 billion manat, approximately $2.433 billion at the current exchange rate, the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee told Interfax
Production of straight-run gasoline, or naphtha, came to 296,100 tonnes, down 21.6%, diesel fuel to 2.4 million tonnes, down 15.5%, residual fuel oil to 77,700 tonnes, down 26.9%, lubricating oils to 44,600 tonnes, down 23.5%, petroleum bitumen to 342,400 tonnes, down 5.5%, and petroleum coke to 209,600 tonnes, down 18.2%.
Growth was recorded only in the production of gasoline at 1.4% to 1.283 million tonnes and jet fuel at 14.6% to 536,600 tonnes.
The drop in oil product output is connected to scheduled repair work carried out between April 4 and May 27 at Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, the only refinery in the country, which is part of State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR).
The refinery had stores of 33,100 tonnes of gasoline, 1,400 tonnes of naphtha, 34,100 tonnes of jet fuel, 58,800 tonnes of diesel fuel, 10,000 tonnes of fuel oil, 4,900 tonnes of lubricating oils, 11,700 tonnes of petroleum bitumen, and 50,700 tonnes of petroleum coke as of January 1, 2023.
