Skhidny Mining cuts production of uranium concentrate by 47.4% in Jan-Sept

KYIV. Nov 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Skhidny Ore Mining and Processing Plant (Skhidny Mining, Dnipropetrovsk region) in January-September 2020 reduced production of uranium oxide concentrate by 47.4% (by 297 tonnes) compared to the same period last year, to 340 tonnes.

According to the enterprise’s data on the Unified State Open Data Portal, 32 tonnes of uranium oxide concentrate were produced in January, 31 tonnes in February, 50 tonnes in March, 38 tonnes in April, and 42 tonnes in May, in June – 35 tonnes, in July – 52 tonnes, in August – 0 tonnes, and in September – 60 tonnes.

The deterioration of the production performance of the enterprise in recent years is associated with the periodic withdrawal of units in the idle part due to problems with financing, which, in particular, is associated with the high cost of production.

Skhidny Ore Mining and Processing Plant is the only uranium ore mining and processing enterprise in Ukraine and the largest in Europe.
