Shmyhal urges to save heat, pay utility bills on time

KYIV. Oct 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal urges Ukrainian citizens to use heat reasonably during the heating season and pay utility bills on time.

"The heating season begins this week in Ukraine. Hospitals, schools and other social facilities are either already connected or are being connected to heat right now. The housing stock is also gradually starting to be connected in most cities of the country," Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Friday.

In this regard, the Prime Minister addressed the representatives of local authorities with a reminder and an appeal to also reasonably approach the consumption of energy resources.

"The government did not raise gas tariffs and made it possible to purchase it at a reduced price. But this does not mean that no one pays for this gas. Therefore, saving and saving again. Electricity, gas, heat. All this is important for winning on the energy front," he said.

The head of government also noted the importance of utility bills.

"Each hryvnia of yours means timely repairs, additional equipment, the ability to supply electricity, water and heat to every home. The government has not raised tariffs. We have not abolished and do not plan to abolish the subsidy program. Programs to help IDPs and those who have provided them with asylum have been expanded. Therefore, please approach the issue of paying utility bills responsibly," Shmyhal summed up.
