Shmyhal, Polish PM discuss increase in quota of car permits for Ukrainian carriers

KYIV. Sept 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal discussed with President of the Council of Ministers of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki the increase in the quota of road transport permits for Ukrainian carriers.

According to the govenment’s press service, Shmyhal said that despite the pandemic, the level of bilateral trade in goods and services between the countries in the first half-year period had reached almost $5 billion.

"Such positive dynamics gives us a possibility to discuss mechanisms for cooperation that will further allow boosting the level of bilateral trade and increasing investment," Shmyhal said.

In particular, the Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed the importance of increasing by the Polish side of the quota of road transport permits for Ukrainian carriers.

"We make the most of the opportunities of a deep and comprehensive free trade area between Ukraine and the EU. Returning the number of road haulage permits to 200,000 per year will enable us to fulfill our obligations to European partners," Shmyhal said.

The parties also discussed the implementation of projects to develop border infrastructure aimed to improve the efficiency of operation of checkpoints and the development of bilateral trade.
