Shmyhal instructs Liashko to update daily info on new Omicron strain in Ukraine
KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has instructed Health Minister of Ukraine Viktor Liashko to update daily information on the new Omicron strain of the COVID-19 coronavirus infection in Ukraine.
"As noted in the Ministry of Health, today the Omicron strain has not been identified in Ukraine. For his part, the Prime Minister instructed the Minister of Health to update information about the new strain on a daily basis," the government said following the conference call.
It is noted that at the moment in 16 regions of the country, 40% of the adult population has at least one vaccination shot against COVID-19, while 40% of the population has already completed the full course of vaccination in six regions.
"Our plan is 70% of the adult population. We need to speed up the vaccination process and do everything possible to save Ukrainians. After all, vaccination is the only way to overcome the pandemic," Shmyhal said.
