Shmyhal believes EU, Associated Trio countries should combine expertise to combat health threats

KYIV. Nov 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal believes that the European Union and the countries of the Associated Trio should combine experience to identify and predict threats in the healthcare sector.

"Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili and Prime Minister of Moldova Natalia Gavrilița in the format of the Associated Trio discussed cooperation in the trade, security and health sectors with President of the European Parliament David Sassoli. The meeting was held during a working visit to Brussels on November 30," the government said in a statement.

At the meeting, Shmyhal said the initiative of Associated Trio is aimed at deepening the process of European integration of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, as well as ensuring the further strategic development of the Eastern Partnership.

According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the ability of the EU member states and partner states to respond to challenges should be seriously improved.

"In this regard, we expect the European Parliament to make appropriate recommendations to the EU institutions in its annual report on the implementation of the Joint Security and Defense Policy for 2021," Shmyhal said.

The head of the Ukrainian government also noted that the EU and the countries of Associated Trio should combine experience to identify and predict threats in the health sector.

"We must be on the same side if a new crisis comes. Together we can make the Pan-European response to future health issues more consolidated," the Prime Minister of Ukraine said.
