Shmyhal about govt personnel reshuffles: I don't have any ideas, proposals as of today

KYIV. Sept 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has said that as of today he does not have any ideas and proposals regarding any personnel reshuffles in the government.

"Speaking about personnel reshuffles in the Cabinet of Ministers, as of today, I have no such ideas and proposals," Shmyhal said at a press conference on Wednesday.

At the same time, the PM noted that the government understands the importance of optimizing and reducing the expenditures on the state apparatus in general.

"Through digitalization and the introduction of digital services, we have an opportunity to cut some positions," he said.

In particular, the PM said that the ministries are working on a functional audit of the entire vertical of executive power, which will help eliminate or optimize functions that are currently outdated.

According to him, this will allow talking about the possibility of reducing the staff of officials by 30% throughout the country, and not only in the structure of ministries.

Shmyhal said that around 8,000 officials have already been laid off, and there will be more layoffs of several dozens of officials and public service jobs.

According to him, such layoffs will make it possible to reduce budged expenditures by UAH 11.8 billion in 2023.

As for local self-government, the government is also preparing its proposals for the reduction of officials in the regional and district state administrations.
