Shmyhal: about 70% of houses, social infrastructure in Ukraine already with heat supply

KYIV. Nov 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – About 70% of houses and social infrastructure have already been connected to heat supply in Ukraine as a whole, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal says.

"In general, about 70% of houses and social infrastructure in Ukraine are already connected to heat supply. However, heating points should be equipped with high quality in all regions and cities. This is the personal responsibility of mayors, community chairmen and leaders of regional administrations," Shmyhal was quoted by the government’s press service following a meeting with the heads of regional military administrations in the western regions of the state regarding the heating season.

It is noted that the heads of regional military administrations reported on the start of the heating season in their regions. In particular, 100% of boiler houses were put into operation in Zakarpattia and Khmelnytsky region, almost 100% in Ternopil region, 93% in Volyn region, 92% in Ivano-Frankivsk region, 27% in Lviv region, 94% in Rivne region, and over 70% in Chernivtsi region.

"We need to learn how to live in a mode of constant savings and provide the communities with alternative energy generating means as much as possible. By the decision of the government, we have already exempted energy and heat goods from paying VAT and import duties," the prime minister said.

According to him, the timely start of the heating season is important, which removes unnecessary load from the power grid.
