Ship's crew detained in France on suspicion of drug smuggling, incl one Ukrainian – MFA
KYIV. Oct 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In France, the crew of the M/V TRUDY ship was detained on suspicion of drug smuggling, including one citizen of Ukraine, said Oleh Nikolenko, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
"On October 4, French law enforcement agencies detained the crew of the M/V TRUDY ship near the city of Dunkirk on suspicion of drug smuggling. There is one Ukrainian citizen among the crew members," Nikolenko told Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.
According to him, the Ukrainian Embassy in France is already engaged in this matter, provides consular and legal assistance.
"Our citizen is provided with a lawyer and an interpreter. Consuls are in contact with French law enforcement agencies to clarify all the circumstances," the Foreign Ministry spokesman added.
