Shipment of agrifood under Black Sea Grain Initiative exceeds 600,000 tonnes – USPA
KYIV. Aug 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Bulk carrier I Maria departed from the port of Chornomorsk (Odesa region) to Egypt with 33,000 tonnes of corn on board via the grain corridor, becoming the 25th ship since the launch of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Aautthority (USPA) reported on Facebook on Thursday.
"To date, we already have more than 600,000 tonnes of agricultural products transshipped and sent through the grain corridor," Head of the USPA Oleksiy Vostrikov was quoted in the report.
He recalled that on Wednesday, August 17, the largest caravan arrived at Ukrainian ports for loading agricultural products – five ships at once.
"We see how the market reacts positively to the stable and efficient operation of Ukrainian ports. The number of applications for ships to enter the ports of Odesa is increasing, as well as the dynamics of such applications," Vostrikov said.
As reported, in Istanbul on July 22, with the participation of the UN, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine, two documents were signed on the creation of a corridor for the export of grain and other agricultural products from three Ukrainian ports – Chornomorsk, Odessa and Pivdenny.
