Ship chartered by UN Food Program to deliver Ukrainian wheat to Somalia
KYIV. Dec 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Three bulkers left Ukrainian ports on Thursday, including one chartered by the UN World Food Program, the Joint Coordinating Center (JCC) said.
"On December 8, three vessels left Ukrainian ports carrying a total of 103,600 tonnes of grain and other food products under the Black Sea Grain Initiative," the center said.
The Neva vessel, chartered by the UN World Food Program, is carrying 25,000 tonnes of wheat to Somalia to provide humanitarian aid.
The Aeolian Vision vessel (67,100 tonnes of corn) is heading to China, and the Fulmar S vessel (11,500 tonnes of soybeans) is heading to Egypt.
The JCC said "grains that reach a destination may go through processing and be trans-shipped to other countries."
Four inbound vessels transited the sea humanitarian corridor on December 8, are heading to Ukrainian ports.
"As of December 8, the total tonnage of grain and other foodstuffs exported from three Ukrainian ports is 13.301 million tonnes. A total of 1,069 voyages have been enabled so far: 536 inbound and 533 outbound," the JCC said.
