Shefir's driver operated on after shooting, his life not in danger – Monastyrsky
KYIV. Sept 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The driver of the first assistant to the President of Ukraine Serhiy Shefir was operated on after the car was fired at, Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky said.
"The driver has just been operated on, his life is really not in danger. And I will notice that before going to the hospital, he managed to point out to investigators the exact location of the shots, which allowed investigators to quickly inspect the scene and conduct the investigative actions," Monastyrsky said at a briefing on Wednesday.
As it was reported, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22, near the village of Lisnyky (Kyiv region) the car of first assistant to the president of Ukraine Serhiy Shefir was fired at, the driver was wounded.
As a source in law enforcement agencies told Interfax-Ukraine, a total of 12 bullets were fired at the car.
In turn, adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko said on Facebook that the shots were fired from the forest with an automatic weapon in the course of the car’s movement.
Adviser to the President’s Office Mykhailo Podoliak told the agency that the attack on Shefir’s car was connected with an aggressive campaign to oppose the active policy of President Volodymyr Zelensky to reduce the influence of oligarchs on social processes.
On the fact of the attempted murder on the first assistant to the President of Ukraine Serhiy Shefir on Wednesday morning, law enforcement officers began criminal proceedings with a preliminary qualification of attempted murder of two or more people, Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova said.
