Share of agro-industrial complex in total exports from Ukraine down to 35.2% in Jan-July – Agrarian Ministry
KYIV. Sept 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Exports of products of the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine decreased by 8.8 p.p., from 44% in January-July 2020 to 35.2% in January-July 2021, while the share of these products in the total imports into the country over the same period – by 0.9 percentage points, to 11.3%, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reported on the website.
According to its data, in monetary terms, the export of agricultural products of Ukraine for the seven months of 2021 increased by 6.7% compared to January-July 2020, to $ 12.5 billion, imports – by 19.4%, to $ 4.19 billion.
The ministry clarified that Ukraine sent half of all exports of agricultural products (50.1%) to Asian countries, 27.2% to the EU, 13.1% to Africa, 5.9% to the CIS. At the same time, 48.4% of Ukraine’s total imports of agricultural products were imported from the EU (for $ 2.3 billion), Asia – 20.1% ($ 843.9 million), North and South America -13.4% ($ 562.6 million).
According to the ministry, China in January-July 2021 imported Ukrainian agricultural products for $ 2.4 billion, India – for $ 947 million, the Netherlands – for $ 908 million, Spain – for $ 538 million.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy noted that 28.3% of all Ukrainian exports of agricultural products were sunflower oil, 28% – corn, 10.2% – wheat, while most of all fish was imported – 4.9% and sunflower seeds – 4.8%.
