Shah Deniz gas exports rose 23% in 7M
BAKU. Aug 12 (Interfax) – Gas exports from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field rose 23% year-on-year in January-July 2022 to 12.02 billion cubic meters, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee told Interfax.
These exports accounted for 52.4% of all gas exported by trunk pipelines in the period.
Overall, Azerbaijan’s trunk pipelines carried 22.933 bcm of gas in 7M 2022, up 15.8% year-on-year.
Shah Deniz gas is currently exported to Georgia, Turkey, and Europe.
The contract for the development of Shah Deniz was signed in 1996. Production at the Shah Deniz field began in December 2006. BP is the project operator with a 29.99% stake, State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic holds 21.02%, Lukoil has 19.99%, TPAO 19%, and Nico 10%.
