Servant of the People expects rise in share of nuclear generation in Ukraine
KYIV. Oct 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The reform plan for 2021-2023 presented at a meeting of the Servant of the People faction assumes an increase in the share of nuclear generation in Ukraine by 10 p.p., according to the faction’s Facebook page.
"Among the goals are the integration of the European and Ukrainian energy systems and markets, an increase in gas and oil production by 20%, an increase in oil refining, a decrease in dependence on imported energy resources. Development and implementation of energy efficient technologies, an increase in the share of nuclear generation by 10% and a reduction in natural gas imports will be important," the report says.
At the same time, the Servant of the People party did not specify which reforms would lead to an increase in the share of nuclear generation.
An increase in the share of nuclear power plants in the total structure of electricity generation can occur not only due to the construction of new nuclear facilities or increased operation of the existing units, but also due to a decrease in production by other types of generation.
In addition, the party considers it necessary to develop renewable energy sources, perform eco-modernization of the industry, increase the share of ecological transport and reduce losses in power grids.
As reported, the latest revision of the forecast balance of the integrated power system of Ukraine provides for the production of 156.975 billion kWh of electricity in 2021, in particular by NPPs – 84.52 billion kWh (a share of 53.8%). The share of nuclear power plants in 2020 was 51.2%, in 2019 – 53.9%, in 2018 – 53%, in 2017 – 55.1%, in 2016 – 52.3%, in 2015 – 55.6%, in 2014 – 48.6%.
