Servant of People faction not to support Tkachenko's resignation from post of Culture Minister – Arakhamia
KYIV. Nov 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The parliamentary faction Servant of the People will not support the resignation of Oleksandr Tkachenko from the post of Minister of Culture and Information Policy during the voting, head of the faction David Arakhamia has said.
"All [members of the faction] first heard about this from the news. It is wrong when the faction appoints a minister, and then he finds out from the news that he somehow lost his temper and wrote something. I don’t think that with such an approach, he has a chance of being fired," Arakhamia told reporters on the sidelines of parliament on Tuesday.
To the clarifying question of how the faction will act, he replied: "We will simply not vote – and that is all: then let him be a hostage to this situation."
Arakhamia stressed that Tkachenko should have discussed the decision on his desire to resign with members of the Servant of the People faction: "He should have come to the faction meeting, say that he does not agree with such positions and his intentions to leave. If for some reason he did not do so, then he will receive consequences. We have not discussed this issue during the faction meetings, because we have not yet received any such request from him."
