Servant of People does not initiate resignation of the speaker – Korniyenko
KYIV. Sept 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Servant of the People parliamentary faction does not initiate the resignation of Verkhovna Rada Chairman Dmytro Razumkov, party leader, first deputy of the eponymous faction Oleksandr Korniyenko said.
"Currently, we have no initiators of such a procedure [resignation], no signature sheets, no questions. Moreover, I believe that if the person is on sick leave, it is not entirely ethical to raise such issues," Korniyenko said at a briefing on Monday.
According to Korniyenko, the initiative to resign the speaker should be preceded by his meeting with the faction.
"Moreover, I believe that since Dmytro Oleksandrovych, despite his non-factional nature, despite his personal political positions, he was still nominated by our party, […] he headed our party, he headed our list in the elections, after all, this must be preceded by a meeting of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada with the faction, at which mutual questions are asked, and some substantive conversation happens. I do not see the initiative of those who would exacerbate this issue," said the MP.
At the same time, he said that the law clearly spells out the issue of dismissal of the head of parliament and "at the moment when MPs want to apply this procedure, they will apply it."
