Separate criminal article to be introduced for forging COVID certificates – Liashko
KYIV. Sept 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A separate criminal article will be introduced for forging COVID certificates, Minister of Health Viktor Liashko said.
"At the next government meeting, we will consider a draft amendment to the Criminal Code, where the forgery of COVID certificates will be included in a separate criminal article," Liashko said on the air of the Freedom of Speech program on ICTV on Monday.
He noted that the ministry will not support those health workers who are caught acquiring fake COVID certificates or PCR tests.
"If any of the health workers are involved in this scheme, do not expect any support from the Ministry of Health. This cannot happen at a time when we are all set to fight coronavirus disease. Immunoprophylaxis campaign cannot be discredited in this way either," the minister said.
According to Liashko, strict control will be established to prevent the spread of counterfeit COVID certificates, and special operations are underway by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police, and the Security Service.
Earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the European Commission has decided to mutually recognize the digital certificates of vaccination against coronavirus infection COVID-19, issued by Ukraine and the EU.
