Schneider Electric provides electrical equipment for water supply restoration in Mykolaiv
KYIV. Aug 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – French Schneider Electric has donated UAH 1.5 million worth of electrical equipment to the municipal utility Mykolaivvodokanal to restore a stable and efficient water supply in Mykolaiv, Schneider Electric Ukraine reported on Wednesday.
"We are grateful to Schneider Electric Ukraine for equipping the new pumping station with electrical equipment. After installing 10 Schneider Electric frequency converters, the operation of pumping equipment became more reliable, ensured high efficiency of the equipment, and also increased its operational life," director of Mykolaivvodokanal Oleksandr Pozdniakov said.
According to him, currently Mykolaivvodokanal supplies water exactly as much as consumers need, with the necessary pressure, without spending extra electricity and with the preservation of equipment for supplying and filtering water. At the same time, frequency adjustment allows significant cost savings.
As explained in Schneider Electric Ukraine, in Mykolaiv, the ground section of the water conduit was damaged, which made it impossible to supply centralized drinking water to the residents of the city. At the same time, it is impossible to repair the site, since the pipeline is located in a hazardous area.
"In order to prevent a catastrophe, Mykolaiv regional administration and Mykolaivvodokanal developed a plan for construction of a new underground water intake to ensure backup [emergency] water supply from underground aquifers in the city of Mykolaiv and appealed to Schneider Electric Ukraine with a request to join the project," the company explained.
In turn, Schneider Electric Ukraine offered the Ukrainian side to use AltivarProcess frequency converters for maximum pump performance, as well as preventing motor overload for stable operation.
"Schneider Electric strives to contribute to the restoration and maintenance of water supply for the population of Ukraine, because we have extensive expertise and innovative solutions for the operation of water utilities," said Mykhailo Bubnov, General Director of Schneider Electric Ukraine, whose words are also given in the report.
