SBU, together with colleagues from U.S., liquidate group that produced fake ID-cards of EU countries
KYIV. Aug 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in cooperation with U.S. law enforcement agencies, carried out a special operation, which resulted in the termination of the activities of a group specializing in the production of forged documents.
As reported on the special services website, the attackers were based in Lviv, mainly produced ID-cards of the European Union countries and other permits of any complexity, and advertised their services through an anonymous server on the Darknet network.
"Usually they made fake ID-cards, which allowed them to illegally cross the borders of different countries. Their clients were mainly illegal migrants from the Middle East who wanted to legalize themselves in Western countries. Dealers made several dozen counterfeits a month. After making a forgery, they transported the documents abroad through the drivers of international transport," the message says.
As part of open criminal proceedings, law enforcement officers conducted authorized searches and seized seals, letterheads, holograms and computer equipment. Criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 2 of Article 322 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine), an investigation is underway.
