SBU opens case on shelling Schastia town, wounded head of local military civil administration

KYIV. Sept 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) began a pretrial investigation into the shelling attacks by fighters of the so-called "LPR" military and civilian objects of the town of Schastia, during which weapons, prohibited by the Minsk agreements, were used.

As the SBU press service reported on Thursday morning, on September 16, enemies fired at the area where Luhansk border detachment is located in Schastia, as a result of which a neighboring residential building, military and civilian vehicles were damaged.

"In addition, during the shelling attacks, the head of the civil-military administration, who arrived at the scene, received a mine-shrapnel wound. The official is now hospitalized for medical assistance," the statement said.

It notes that according to preliminary findings, the shelling was carried out from large-caliber mortars prohibited by the Minsk agreements.

"However, it is possible that the mines were fired with the use of UAVs," the SBU emphasizes.

They add that an SBU operative-investigative group is working at the scene, which interrogates witnesses and eyewitnesses, including residents of a house that suffered from an enemy attack, studies and documents the circumstances of the invaders’ crime.

Under the procedural leadership of Luhansk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the SBU continues urgent investigative actions within the framework of criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorist act that entailed grave consequences).

As reported, on the morning of September 16, Russia-occupation forces in Donbas fired mortars at the settlement of Schastia, as a result of which head of the local military-civil administration Oleksandr Dunets was wounded.
