SBU notifies rector of Pochayiv Theological Seminary of UOC (MP) of suspicion of anti-Ukrainian activities
KYIV. Dec 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) notified of suspicion rector of the Pochayiv Theological Seminary of the UOC (MP), who carried out anti-Ukrainian activities, the SBU reports.
"The SBU has collected evidence of the guilt of the head of Pochyiv Theological Seminary in anti-Ukrainian activities. The archbishop distributed "messages" through social networks, which humiliated the national honor and dignity of Ukrainians. Also, by his actions, he contributed to inciting religious enmity and hatred," the SBU said on the Telegram channel on Friday.
According to the SBU, in order to disperse destructive content, the rector of the institution used an anonymous profile on the Facebook social network, and used narratives of Russian propagandists to prepare his publications.
In addition, as noted in the report, during searches at the place of residence of the person involved and in the premises of the seminary, law enforcement officers found literature that repeated the Kremlin’s "theses" about the internal situation in Ukraine.
"Currently, the Archbishop has been informed of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 161 (violation of equal rights of citizens depending on their racial, national, regional affiliation, religious beliefs, disability and other characteristics) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the SBU informs.
The report says that in its activities, the SBU observes the principle of impartiality to the activities of any religious denomination and respects the right of every citizen to freedom of worldview and religion, as defined by the Constitution of Ukraine.
Measures to expose offenses were carried out by employees of the Security Service of Ternopil region together with the National Police under the procedural leadership of Kremenets District Prosecutor’s Office.
