SBU neutralizes two channels of illegal weapons turnover
KYIV. Aug 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – During a counter-sabotage operation in Kyiv region, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) eliminated two strong channels for the illegal transfer of weapons to the territory of Kyiv, the SBU has said.
"In Kyiv, perpetrators, who tried to sell a batch of weapons in the capital, were neutralized. The weapons seized from the detainees included twelve combat grenades, six pistols of different brands, a rifle, more than 270 cartridges of various calibers, parts for small arms, more than UAH 1.2 million obtained by criminal means," the SBU said on the Telegram channel on Wednesday.
It also said that another perpetrator was detained while trying to covertly transfer weapons from one of the eastern front-line regions of Ukraine.
According to the SBU, during the inspection of the perpetrator’s vehicle, law enforcers found 14 F-1 and RGD combat grenades, two AK-74 Kalashnikov assault rifles, 14 flares, more than 3,000 cartridges of various calibersю
