SBU detains employee of Ukroboronprom, who works for Russia’s military intelligence

KYIV. Feb 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has prevented the leakage of classified information from one of the leading state-owned enterprises, part of the structure of the state concern Ukroboronprom.

"As a result of a special operation in Kyiv, a Russian agent was detained who received a hostile task to get a job at a Ukrainian defense company to collect intelligence in favor of the aggressor country. SBU officers exposed him at the beginning of his intelligence and subversive activities and gradually documented his criminal actions," the website of the SBU reports.

The criminal was collecting information about Ukrainian weapons coming to units on the eastern and southern fronts. He also photographed the consequences of Russian missile strikes in Kyiv and sent them to an employee of the Main Directorate of International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. "The Russian official informed representatives of the military intelligence of the aggressor country about the data received," the SBU reported.

Based on the collected evidence, the investigators informed the lawbreaker of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state betrayal committed under martial law), the issue of choosing a preventive measure for him is being resolved.
