SBI says Dnipro design bureau modernized energy infrastructure of occupied Crimea by order of Russia

KYIV. Sept 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Security Service of Ukraine exposed the design bureau in Dnipro, which closely cooperated with the occupation authorities of Crimea.

According to the SBU press center, the attackers modernized the energy infrastructure of the peninsula, formally hiding behind affiliated enterprises from the Russian Federation.

The SBI reports that this design bureau received significant contracts from the Russian government. The cost of only one of them amounted to about 260 million rubles. ($3.5 million). Among their projects is the implementation of design work at the facilities of Krym TPP JSC: Simferopol TPP, Kamysh-Burun TPP and Saki Heat Networks TPP.

The attackers did not act directly: in order to circumvent the Ukrainian law and "not cooperate with the occupiers," they created several companies in the Russian Federation. They were the formal cover for this activity: they participated in tenders; on their behalf, agreements were concluded on the reconstruction of energy facilities of the occupied peninsula.

During the searches carried out in the office space and at the addresses of the atttackers’ residence, the following were seized: technical documentation on work at enterprises located in Crimea; payment cards of Russian banks; seals of affiliated companies formed on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Currently, the investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 of Art. 110-2 (financing of actions committed with the aim of forcibly changing or overthrowing the constitutional order, or seizing state power, changing the borders of the territory or state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, a number of examinations are carried out.

It is planned to report the suspicion to the organizers of criminal activity.

Investigative actions are ongoing to identify and punish all those involved.
